Connecting brands that matter through networking
As PR professionals we are committed to building relationships, and through those relationships, we strive to connect brands that matter with the people who need them. As a team, Siren PR is regularly attending networking events to meet new people and build those relationships. As an agency we prioritize creativity and innovation, and value inclusivity and making sure everyone has an opportunity to be heard. We even held our first annual “Innovation Week” last year as a company, to learn and brainstorm with one another on how we can do things better, different, and more effectively, for not just our clients, but for ourselves. This year’s innovation week will be happening later this fall.
As for networking – our office is in the Washington Square Plaza Building in downtown Royal Oak – and we came to the realization that we didn’t know even half of our “office neighbors.” We saw a need to bring everyone in the building together, to get to know one another, make a connection both personally and professionally, and who knows, even make a new friend or make plans to collaborate on upcoming projects.
According to Inc.com traditional networking events are dead. But that doesn’t mean all networking events should go away forever. In fact, we believe the opportunity to network is more important than ever, and the events where networking happens are simply evolving. We’ve noticed smaller, more targeted events, with like-minded individuals as the latest format for professionals to connect with each other. Gone are the days of banquet-sized spaces and the ol’ business card trade frenzy. With that in mind, we set out to host a fun, informal, and targeted networking event. The aim was to value people’s time and give them all a chance to connect in a great atmosphere.
And that’s exactly what we did – we collaborated with partners, invited everyone in the building, outlined our goals for the event, created a list of action items, and hit GO! We hosted our first event in August. Together we engaged in thoughtful conversations, had the opportunity to be heard, and shared stories of successes, challenges, and everything in between.
After the event we feel more connected with our “neighbors,” get excited to see one another in the hallways, and seek out advice from experts within our building’s walls – how cool is that? We learned some great stories and facts from our neighbors, including:
- How one neighbor came to be a personal jeweler
- Sharing with each other how specific paths got them to where they are now
- How many National Parks one leader has visited
- How a neighbor balances work and home life & they crazy things their kids do
- What advice to give to your kids as they head off to college
- And so much more!
Based on the attendance and positive feedback we received, we consider this a success, and can’t wait for the next one.
We also want to thank our friends and partners at iwerk for helping us host and pull-off such an amazing event!
Cheers to our next networking event! Want to be involved? Connect with us below.
