A Senior Account Executive is a high performer who can easily build relationships and trust, deliver results, contribute to a sense of team, and think strategically to achieve goals. A Senior Account Executive will have established skills in the areas of media relations strategy, media pitching, press writing, blog writing, social media strategy and implementation, brand management, account management, and administrative support functions. This position requires 7+ years of experience and knowledge in the areas of reputation management, crisis communication, and brand development (visual and messaging). A successful candidate will have strong project management skills.
Job responsibilities include:
LEADERSHIP
- Foster strong relationships between Siren and clients
- Assume responsibility for the success of assigned accounts to lead
- Contribute to “Delivering client value” mini mission
- Set appropriate expectations with clients and communicate clearly
- Ensure that innovation and creativity are prioritized during client service, proactively generating fresh ideas and achieving client buy-in
- Demonstrate an understanding of client brands, priorities, and concerns
- Pursue client goals with enthusiasm and precision
- Contribute to meeting client goals and KPIs
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Be fluent in Siren’s value propositions and brand messaging
- Represent Siren publicly and generate leads
- Support business development efforts by qualifying leads based on Siren’s sales process
- Contribute to the development of client proposals and pitches
- Contribute to upsells on existing accounts when appropriate
SIREN TEAM AND CULTURE
- Make wise decisions on behalf of Siren and clients
- Ensure that your actions and decisions uphold Siren’s culture of innovation, trust and high performance
- Communicate clearly with team members, Siren leadership, and clients
- Set and meet annual stretch goals
- Successfully lead, manage and coach Siren junior team members, particularly those assigned as direct reports
STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION
- Develop and lead communication strategy across varying business, municipal, higher education, community development and nonprofit sectors
- Provide sound strategic communication counsel, both proactively and reactively
- Lead clients toward clear, integrated communication efforts on a PESO model that supports their goals
- Be the project manager for strategic communication projects and ongoing client service, ensuring milestones are hit and results are achieved
- Lead discovery sessions per Siren’s standards in a dynamic and engaging way that provides a productive and meaningful experience in addition to producing necessary results
- Practice reflective listening and align client stakeholder interests
- Develop strategic communication plans, including brand narrative, audience personas, key messaging, and PESO strategies
- Lead strategic communication accounts, ensuring the delivery of value across integrated communication and marketing channels
MEDIA RELATIONS
- Work with with key media contacts in metro Detroit and Marquette, industry sectors and at the national level
- Develop and lead strategic media relations campaigns, ensuring the Siren team delivers value and impact to clients in the area of media relations
- Strengthen stakeholder relationships through media campaigns
- Generate fresh ideas to position Siren clients with strength to local, industry and national media
- Strengthen junior team members’ media relations skills
- Improve client reputations via positive media outcomes
- Perform client media trainings that are effective and engaging
- Prepare clients for interviewing success
- Exude calm confidence and informational accuracy during media interviews
- See that client is notified of coverage in real-time and results are clearly communicated per Siren impact reporting standards
SOCIAL MEDIA
- Ensure that Siren team is clear on the purpose and direction of client social media channels
- Ensure client social media channels are strong and growing per their goals and KPIs
- Contribute to the development of social media content in line with strategic communication plans
- Contribute to the management of client social media communities
- Assume responsibility for navigating critical conversations between clients and followers
CRISIS COMMUNICATION
- Contribute to crisis communication situations for Siren clients, assuming responsibility for message development, communicating with key audiences, and providing the client with sound crisis communication counsel
- Support clients during crisis situations with calm confidence and clear direction
- Report all crisis situations, progress and outcomes to Siren’s CEO
ADMINISTRATION
- Deliver results in line with client contracts
- Ensure client and Siren deadlines are met
- Support Siren Director of Operations in managing client financial information and time tracking
- Meet utilization rates as determined by Siren leadership
- Communicate regularly with the CEO
- Travel as needed to the Upper Peninsula (approximately once per quarter)
Qualifications
- Exude 80 percent or more of Siren’s values
- Demonstrate absolute media expertise across local and industry media, with fluency at the national level
- Possess meaningful relationships with assignment, planning, and managing editors and reporters in beats relevant to Siren clients
- Demonstrate the ability to lead strategic client meetings, navigating a wide variety of participant priorities, in order to foster a positive experience and effective outcome
- Fluency in Siren’s four core service areas: strategic communication, media relations, social media and crisis communication
- 7+ years of experience in public relations and communication
- Strong background with clients from professional service, nonprofit and education sectors
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Self-motivated professional who learns quickly
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully work both from home and in an office setting
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
- Full-time, W-2 position
- Two days per week in Siren’s office; three days per week work from home
- Based in Royal Oak, Michigan

- Paid time off + holidays + one additional week between Christmas and New Year’s Day
