Supporting local businesses through social media

Situation

The Royal Oak Downtown Development Authority was struggling to make their audiences and local businesses feel supported and seen. Siren was contracted to build a successful social media presence that communicated information and news effectively and supported the local business community.

Solution

The DDA sought a strategic communication partner that was invested in, and who understood their community. With one of our offices being located in downtown Royal Oak, a partnership with Siren was a perfect match. It was our job to develop a social media strategy that accurately represented downtown Royal Oak.

By cultivating open communication between the DDA and its audiences, we strengthened their social media platforms as a resource for followers; activated engaging content; and shared positive stories of local businesses.

Results

For Facebook & Instagram combined from March 2020 to June 2022:

  • 5.7M+ impressions
  • 200K+ engagements
  • 7K+ followers

Importantly, attitudes toward the Royal Oak DDA completely changed. Aside from an increase in positive engagements, our results also came alive outside of the digital world. The local businesses and audiences on the ground felt more supported and informed by the DDA. These results were a direct result of stronger relationships fostered through our strategy.
